How common is Stress?

In our fast-paced Western lives that we live, with so many expectations on our time and abilities, stress is a common experience; we are often so busy living that we don’t realise that stress is building up until the symptoms stop us in our tracks.

It is well known that there are simple steps that we can take to help reduce stress levels in our lives; healthy eating, exercise, sleep hygiene, time management, relaxation techniques…  This is sound advice to maintain manageable levels of stress, but what if our current stress levels are more than our bodies can tolerate? And how do we know how much stress our bodies can tolerate?

What are the symptoms?

Our bodies ability to tolerate stress is unique to each person, depending on such things as our genetic makeup, life experiences and our environment.   There are many physical and psychological symptoms that a person might experience as their stress levels increase, including:

  • Low energy levels
  • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday activities
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Feeling unhappy or dissatisfied with life
  • Upset digestive system
  • Anxiety and agitation
  • Insomnia

How can Biodynamic Massage help?

Biodynamic Massage is a therapy that addresses both the body and the mind.  It provides a non-demanding, nurturing space that meets a person’s body whatever level/symptoms of stress it is experiencing.  This therapy puts no expectations on the body, instead it is an invitation to increase your understanding of what your body is communicating through your symptoms, supporting it to gradually re-establish the normal self-regulation and natural healing capacity we all possess.  It encourages curiosity towards symptoms rather than judgement of.

By using a combination of techniques, this therapy meets the emotional and physical needs of each individual.  As it is tailored to your individual needs, some people will experience biodynamic massage as extremely gentle and calming, another as energising and enlivening.

Benefits of Biodynamic Massage include:

  • More emotionally balanced, enabling us to better manage stressors
  • A sense of being more attuned with our bodies and its needs
  • Relief from chronic symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, tension

Increased energy and zest for life
